During the last week of August 2008, Nómadas participated in a "Youth in Action" exchange that took place in Amasya (Turkey). The title of the project was "Sports for Tolerance", so the almost all the activities were around sport. In the exchange we met youngsters from Poland, Portugal and Turkey, all of them were really nice people, we miss all of them. During the project we were hosted in a youth hostel near the sport complex of Amasya, which is located in the North of the Anatolian peninsula, a bit less than 200 Km from the Black Sea. The most of the activities were held on that sport center, were we had a tennis and football court and a swimming pool. We played three different tournaments: volleyball, basketball and football, no one won that matches since the target was to make the youngsters from different cultural bakgrounds cooperate and discover that we are not so different, even if we live some thounsands kilometers away.
At the begining of the project we had the opportunity of visiting Istambul which is one of the nicest cities in the World, we visited the Blue Mosque, Santa Sophia's Old Cathredal, the Bosphorus, we eated the famous ice-cream Al Pedo... We really made profit of our time there!
This exchange was funded by the "Youth in Action" program, which is the main European Union programme for youth and probably the World's best youth public initiative. The target of this programme is to promote the European Citenzenship, specially among the youngsters, and to remove the cultural barriers in the relations between the young people in Europe.
